CERNEY, ELIZABETH JOAN August 4, 1940 to February 8, 2011
William Cerney was born on December 2, 1940 in Houston,
Texas to Allan and Sophie Cerney (Uminski). He passed away
unexpectedly on December 20, 2010 at Grossmont Hospital in
La Mesa from complications of pneumonia.
Elizabeth Cerney (Waddell) was born on August 4, 1940 in
Cottonwood Falls, Kansas to Robert and Elva Waddell. She was
a breast cancer survivor for many years, but unfortunately
it returned and she passed away at the Carlsbad Hospice
Facility on February 8, 2011.
Bill and Betty Cerney were high school sweethearts at Mission Bay High
School where they graduated in 1958. They were married on
June 29, 1957. Bill was a respected businessman in the
plumbing industry for over 50 years. He began his early days
at his father-in-law's shop, Waddell Plumbing, in the late
50's and became co-owner of La Jolla Plumbing Co. and owner
of Emory Plumbing Co. upon his retirement in December 2010.
Bill was a member of the Mason Lodge No. 632.
Betty was a true friend to all who knew her and a dedicated,
loving mother to her three sons. She was a strong, tough
lady who was an inspiration to all her knew her. Betty was a
member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 490.
Both are survived by their son Bill Jr. (Tammy), son
Bradley, grandchildren Bret, Leslie, Nicolas, Brandon and
Shane, Bill's sister Christine Hartwell (Bud), brother
Lindsey Cerney (Sue), Betty's brother Robert Waddell and
brother-in-law Butch Kessler (Mary Alice), and preceded in
death by son, Bart (Caroline) and Betty's sister, Nancy
Kessler.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 9th at Greenwood
Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. at the Salli Lynn Chapel. An interment
ceremony will follow.

Hospice or the
American Cancer Society
